FACTS

  • Almost any Diesel car sold in Australia in the last decade including your range-rover sport has factory reduced performances. Reasons behind this fact are multiple and we have explained them in a dedicated article.
  • Original ECU (Engine Control Unit) setup reduces Torque and Power by 15% to 25%.
  • Torque is a crucial asset for a diesel engine as it can generates a huge amount of “pull” and tow force at low RPM mainly. A petrol engine is completely different as it gives more “pull” and tow force at higher RPM where power output is maximised and this because a petrol engine does not have much torque.
  • An engine burns more fuel at higher RPM. That’s why a diesel engine consumption is overall lower than a petrol engine.

 

SAFETY

As you certainly noticed, your range-rover sport become significantly slower when your Air Conditioning is on this because an AirCon system needs power to run and that power is provided by the engine.

Many range-rover drivers feel frustrated while driving with their AirCon on when a simple overtake can easily become a nightmare and a full throttle is a natural reaction when they feel their range-rover is not capable to perform as they expected.

This because a diesel engine is meant to deliver a strong “pull” and tow force at middle ranges (2000-4000RPM) even on a full throttle the car is not capable to complete an overtake if driving on a gently sloping road with a medium load onboard.

This will incur in unsafe driving conditions and much more fuel consumption.

Our ECU Remap gives to your range-rover sport an extra 35HP of power and 19% of extra torque (120NM), so a much more responsive and safer car.

 

ENVIRONMENT

If its true that more Torque gives more “pull” and tow force, its true that less throttle is needed to move your vehicle, so we burn less fuel overall.

I highly recommend Gary from DTA when it comes to diesel tuning (well any sort of tuning actually) due to his experience, honesty and expertise. He has all the latest equipment for dyno tuning and has made my amarok much more enjoyable to drive.
My ute was in there for a major electrical issue which Gary and his team also fixed in great time with expertise and honesty. I asked Gary if he could do a deal with me after the major electrical repairs done on my truck were completed and got him to fit me in last minute before Christmas for a tune at a great price.
I tow a 3 tonne tipper trailer regularly for work with my Amarok and had found the Amarok to labour with the trailer hooked up pre tune. After the tune I gained a fait bit of extra torque and horsepower which has made the Amarok a great tow vehicle.
Also having 1 tonne of material in the back of the tub the other day made barely a difference in the performance and it pulls so much harder and the boost comes on much earlier making the acceleration much more punchy.

Our diesel tuning experience started when about 10 years ago Common Rail diesel engines arrived to the Australian market. A Common Rail diesel engine is fully managed by a computer called ECU (Engine Control Unit).

We are able to safely access to most of the range-rover sport ECUs, many times we are the first company in Australia to be able to access ECU of a new car model. For example, as we are writing this page we are the only tuning company in Australia to be able to access and ECU Remap the new Toyota Hilux 2.8 D4D.

OUR ECU REMAP IS DIFFERENT

Nowadays there are many auto tuners in Australia offering an ECU Remap service but only few of them are specialized in Diesel tuning. This because a Diesel ECU Remap is completely different from a Petrol engine and diesel tuning experience is still young in Australia compared with other markets like the European. In the meantime there is a huge increase of Diesel cars sold here in Australia, opening a big market for Diesel tuning services.

To achieve an efficient and safe tuning for your range-rover sport engine 2 major type of experience are required:
